You may consider this my first attempt of creating a full photo reportage.
Since my interests in politics are equal to zero, there’s not much I can tell you about why the people were doing this. I did ask some of them at a similar protest last week and they didn’t really knew what they were standing there for. Some mumbled short general answers like “for the good of our country” or “to change the government” but most of them had no idea what it was all about.
The important fact is that about 30000-40000 people had gathered in Piata Victoriei to protest and then walk in march towards the Parliament Building. I tried to capture the events as best as I could.
Policeman waiting, as a group of protesters approaches the Victoriei Place
Protesters sign saying: “Down with the Government”
Protester from “Fratia CNSLR” smiling at the camera.
Now if I were one of them, I’d probably want to show how angry and
discontent I am…
Protesters sign: “Go away! Leave us!”
The march approaching Romana Place at about 11:30am.
A frontier policeman irritated that I was taking pictures of him.
Carrying the Romanian flag with a hole in it (symbolizing the end of communism).
Deputy Victor Ponta declaring that this is the biggest protest in Romania since
the Revolution in 1989.
Sign: “You’ve put your feet into the country”
In romanian stepping with you feet into something means you don’t care about
that certain thing anymore.

As I approached the two with my camera, one of them shouted “Come,
Let’s sing a joyful melody for the pretty lady here.”

Pedestrian, trying to cross the boulevard full of protesters.
Member of the CNSLR Brotherhood drumming on an empty washing powder box.
“Let us remind him [our governator]: “I swear… to respect the Constitution and
the country laws, to defend democracy, the citicens’ fundamental rights and liberties.”
So may God help him!”

Boy from the group of students.

Now if I were a mum, I would certainly not take my kid to political manifestations.

One of the busiest boulevards in Bucharest closed for the demonstrations.
